Citizens’ presence for Bulgaria as a GMOs free area, 10.12.2009
Today around 30 people gathered to protest through citizens’ presence in front of the Council of Ministers following yesterday’s voting by the Parliamentary Commission on Agriculture of amendments to the Law on Genetically Modified Organisms allowing the cultivation of these latter even within the protected territories and areas in Bulgaria!
“We don’t want mutant children”, “There is no way back”, read a part of the warning posters hand made by the protesters themselves. Over the heads of the citizens a scarecrow stacked up visualizing the genetically modified organisms’ threats.
“The amendments to the Law aim at the complete destruction of Bulgarian agriculture, not only the biological but also the conventional one! The stoppage of this disastrous draft law is a priority among all other problems in Bulgaria! Nature, agriculture and our health are endangered!!!”, Svetla Pavlova from the Agrolink Association shared with us.
