The appropriate places for ski resorts in Bulgaria are the high mountains, which are national parks, too. Their purpose is to save the common air, water and woods resources. According to the legislation and their current plans of management, it is not permitted new tracks and installations to be constructed on their territory.
Through the last years, the necessity of artificial snow has exceeded, because of the warm winters and the reduction of the snowing process. The artificial snow may cause huge problems: during its production process, around 30% from the used water is lost via the evaporation and it becomes forever lost in that proper area; the flow from the mountain rivers, from which the water for the snow is taken, reduces to 40 to 70% and they can easily dry out; the artificial snow consists of chemicals, which pollute the soil and the water.
How do the ski resorts harm nature and what problems do they cause?
